The Silverstone Watch – TAG Heuer

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

TAG Heuer recently celebrated its 150th Anniversary and in honor of the event they, of course, created some newly designed watches. One of these was the Silverstone – meant to honor the “British Grand Prix”. Of course, Silverstone Circuit is one of the oldest trophy racing circuits in that part of the world. One Silverstone TH is distinctive due to its being mainly done in burgundy red tones – including the wrist strap. The watch was also recently auctioned off at Bonham’s – and proceeds from the sale go to help Green Cross International. Of course, you don’t have to go to the Bonham’s auctions to win your TAG Heuer fascimile horologe.

Of course the original collection was offered in more than just one color combination. The same holds true for the MS “Tag Heuer Silverstone Men’s Replica”. As the original, it comes in an oblong case with rounded corners – reminiscent of a racing track. The case itself is of “rose gold” and comes with a brown perforated leather band. This is a very good replica as it displays “Heuer Silverstone” on the top half of the face and not Tag Heuer as some watches might do. This one also functions as a perpetual calendar with two sub-dials on both sides and the date window in the bottom half.

But not everybody is interested in “racing watches”; there is also the option of the MS “Tag Heuer Big Time Calendar Replica Watch”. This replica has some very striking features, one of which is the big square case. The other being the outsized Roman numerals on the dial. The Roman numerals are so big that they remind one of a Romain Jerome or a Roger Dubuis creation. It is amazing how effectively the big numbers blend in and coordinate so well with the design of this Formula 1 timepiece facsimile watch.
