At a time when women needed the strength of sisterhood to stand firm against the biases against those seeking higher education, Alpha Phi formed. In 1872 at Syracuse University, the Alpha Phi women first determined to be a ‘tie which unites, a circle of friends’.
Today, almost one hundred and forty years later, the women of Alpha Phi are found in 152 campuses and more than 200,000 members. They remain true to their founding sisters by continuing to support each other in attaining their highest accomplishments. Their mission statement speaks of supporting through lifelong achievement, a common thread in many Greek organizations.
From the beginning, Alpha Phi led the way in progress. In 1886 they became the first women’s fraternity in the United States to build and occupy their own chapter house. In 1902 they called together the inter-sorority conference which led to the formation of the National Panhellenic Conference (PNC).
And in 1995, Alpha Phi was the first NPC international/national member to establish their own website on what was then called the ‘World Wide Web’.
Today, the web is a common shopping ground for those Alpha’s using Greek gear coupon codes to purchase all their Greek clothing and gifts.
